The settLERS POUR IN:
Before the completion of the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway) in 1885, settlers had to travel west by horse and wagon. It was a difficult and dangerous journey. Most settler families began their final westward trek in Winnipeg. Many of them would not survive the journey to their new homestead. If they did, they had to build shelters and find food before the long and cold winter set in.
